Lionel Plak is fascinated by logos, maps and schematic representations of bus, metro and railway lines. In his colourful paintings he lists and organizes all the stops and stations on a particular route.
He first works in pencil, before tracing the words in watercolours, coloured pencil or marker – a process that can easily take three months for each drawing. Plak always carries his works in progress with him, so that he can continue to work on them when he has a spare moment. Once the drawing is finished, Plak has also memorised the route. Slowly but surely, he is mastering the entire global transport system.
