Viljo Luokkanen is a blacksmith by profession and lived and worked for many years in Sweden. During these years he already painted Lapp landscapes. Having returned to Finland he settled in Riihimäki in the South where he worked in a steel factory for twenty years.
In Riihimäki he also began to make metal sculptures: cranes, eagles, grouses and geese. Later he started to carve wood and made smaller animals, birds, but also humans doing things such as fishing or playing music.
