Qi Wen

Qi Wen is faced with the challenge of reconciling his enormous passion for drawing with his difficulty in maintaining concentration. The latter resulted in him frequently being reprimanded as a child. His parents sent him to the Shaolin Temple to learn Chinese martial arts, with the aim of improving his powers of concentration. However, Wen suffered a psychosis a year later and was forced to leave the temple. Fortunately, he was able to visit the studio in Nanjing just a few days later. Wen now enjoys drawing chieftains and constantly draws the symbol for ‘stars’. He dreams of living with a tribe in the Seychelles in later life. Wen works both at home and in the studio, using ink and paper. Drawing brings him a sense of peace, lessening the impact of his attention issues.
