Pieter Nelissen was fascinated by trains from an early age. While his earlier offerings gave the impression of being lifted directly from the drawing board, nowadays, his work is more expressive. The majority of Pieter’s works feature almost systematic monochrome depictions of both the interior and exterior, while others are elaborate and packed with colour. Some of his works focus on a particular detail, while others are reminiscent of X-ray images. At times, the colours intermingle in such a way as to suggest shadow and depth.
