Peter Beers’ choice of material is somewhat unusual: he uses maps and staples. He likes his works to have a structured composition. The inadvertent side effect of all of the staples on the artwork, with the metal strips forming an orderly whole, is that associations with a magnetic field are conjured up. Peter does not select random maps. He prefers to use maps of Curaçao, a country that he has visited and which seemingly left a lasting impression on him. Peter sometimes uses acrylic pen to draw the route travelled by plane from Amsterdam to Willemstad.
