We possess very little information on this creator, save for the fact that he was introduced to Jean Dubuffet in 1946 by Gaston Chaissac. According to the latter’s correspondence, Maurice Charrieau was a catfish breeder and the inventor of an airplane-cum-weathervane. The three drawings belonging to the Collection de l’Art Brut are in lead pencil and Indian ink on paper and cardboard. They show figures and busts viewed from various angles, the eyes depicted frontally and the faces in profile.
