Jokingly he says: ‘’ I try to draw nice, but this is how it comes out. Maybe it’s my troubled past. I start with a few lines, look at them and then I see a figure come forward that I can draw.’’ With hopes for a better life, at the age of thirteen, Koochaki leaves from the countryside to the capital Teheran. Here he works in a garage. Even though he is illiterate, he finds himself in a cultural circle with, amongst others, the writer Gholam Hossein Saedi.
He is known as someone who is incredibly honest, which sometimes causes annoyance amongst others. He has a strong sense of justice and does not mince words. This almost aggressive honesty is also reflected in his work. He marvels at his own creatures. He does not draw for entertainment only, it is also a way for him to express himself.
