Hans Prinzhorn was fascinated by the work of August Natterer. His work leads the rational viewer into something of an endless maze. Natterer’s background as an electrical engineer is apparent in his brushstrokes and attention to detail. Prinzhorn described his work as ‘hallucinatory apparitions’.
